Dodenherdenking Auckland 3rd May 2015

posted in: Events | 1

As New Zealand & Australia commemorate 100 years since the landing at Gallipoli, in the Netherlands, the 4th of May is a day of remembrance of those who have died in wars and peacekeeping missions since World War II. The 5th of May is celebration of freedom, as it was the day on which the Netherlands was liberated after the German occupation of 1940 -1945.

There will be a Dutch Memorial Service held at the Monument in the Parnell Rose Gardens at 2pm on Sunday the 3rd of May. This is organised by the “Memorial Committee Dutch Veterans” each year. We are all invited to attend this service. After the service everyone is invited to afternoon tea in Holland House. Please Note; If the weather is bad, the service will be held in Holland House. If you are not sure, please check with me on 021-346 933 or with Lucy Powell on 09-625 2455 on the day.
