Welcome to this issue of the magazine called “Het Auckland Krantje”. The magazine is aimed at informing the Dutch community what is happening in Auckland and surroundings and in the Netherlands.

Our Dutch Market in April was well attended and again we saw a lot of new faces. It is great to see so many people enjoying themselves and the products we sell. Sorry, but Margreet Kruit was not able to be at the last market to sell her Satay. She will be back at the May Market. The May Market will be at Holland House on the 14th May starting at 10am. See you there.

The games evening on Saturday the 16th April was again lots of fun. The next games evening will be on 18th June.

On 21st May we will have our next Film evening again in Holland House, see the advert on page 8. The last Film evening in March was well attended. Everyone is welcome, please bring your friends. The cost is $5.00 per ticket.

As I am writing this, our Koningsdag Celebration will take place on Wednesday the 27th April in Holland House from 7 to 10 pm. The Consul, René van Rijn and his wife Philippa will be in attendance. We also have a live band providing dance and background music. There is no entry fee this year but there will be a cash bar to cover the cost.

The Dutch people are invited to celebrate Remembrance day at the Parnell Rose Gardens on Sunday the 1st May at 2 pm at the Dutch Monument. After the ceremony there will be afternoon tea served in Holland House, 123 Rockfield Road, Penrose, from 3pm onwards. In case of very bad weather, the ceremony will be held at Holland House at 2pm.

The EJOS AGM will be held on Saturday the 7th May at 10.30am at the Birkenhead RSA rooms, Recreation Drive, Birkenhead. (Alongside the sports grounds). For more information please contact Ivo on 534-4560.

Congratulations to the Dutch Dancers who celebrated their 35th anniversary on Wednesday the 13th April. May they enjoy many more years together. The Dutch Dancers are an intrinsic part of the Dutch Community. They help out at the market and take part in different activities at Holland House, they represent the Dutch community in cultural activities and competitions. They are socially active amongst themselves and in the community. They practise in Holland house every Thursday evening their dance routines. Everyone is welcome to join them at 7.30 pm.

Your Committee is planning to hold the AGM this year on Sunday the 12th June at 10am in Holland House. This means that all members should be present at that meeting to vote on changes in our constitution, vote in a new committee, approve the financial report and other reports etc. Please ensure that your membership is paid up so that you can vote at the meeting.

Nominations for Office Bearers are now open. Please forward any remits you may have to the secretary via email secretary@hollandhouse.org.nz no later than the 3rd June 2016.
