Van de President – May 2015

By the time you read this, we would have just celebrated Kings-day with a cocktail party in Holland House. At the time of writing this letter I must say that ticket sales are not as good as previous years. This could be, that the celebration falls on a long weekend this year and on a Monday evening. The other reason could be that most of us leave things to the last minute for action. Anyway those who were at the celebration would have had enough to eat and drink and would have enjoyed the music and singalong with Theo Kroon. Thanks to those who have volunteered to help make Kings-day a success.

On Sunday the 3rd of May we have our Monthly Coffee morning at 11am followed by drinks and lunch. During this morning we will have a discussion on keeping the coffee mornings going if we can get more members to attend or to discontinue due to lack of attendance. We need an average of 20 people to make these coffee mornings worth-while.

There will be a Dutch Memorial Service held at the Monument in the Parnell Rose Gardens at 2pm on Sunday the 3rd of May. This is organised by the “Memorial Committee Dutch Veterans” each year. We are all invited to attend this service. After the service everyone is invited to afternoon tea in Holland House. Please Note;  If the weather is bad, the service will be held in Holland House. If you are not sure, please check with me on 021-346 933 or with Lucy Powell on 09-625 2455 on the day.
